Video Search Concept
Exploring two approaches: one familiar, aligning with user mental models for intuitive navigation, and another innovative, introducing a fresh, exploratory experience. The goal is to enhance usability while pushing creative boundaries within a 3-hour design sprint.

TASK: UX/UI Design: Video Search Engine (VISE) Home Screen
Concept: Two contrasting approaches—one familiar for usability, the other innovative for exploration.
Goal: Balance familiarity and creativity in a 3-hour design sprint.
The redesign of a video search engine home screen is approached through two contrasting UX/UI strategies: familiarity vs. exploration. The objective is to analyze how users interact with familiar design patterns and how they respond to an innovative, alternative layout.
🔹 Approach 1: Aligning with the User’s Mental Model
Standard search bar placement for easy access.
Familiar grid or list layout for video recommendations.
Clear categorization and filtering options.
Consistent UI elements, resembling popular video search engines (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo).
Accessible dark/light mode options.
🔹 Approach 2: Challenging the User’s Mental Model
A dynamic, AI-driven homepage that adapts to user preferences.
Tag-based and voice-enabled search navigation.
Immersive and Innovative browsing experience
Interactive thumbnails with preview snippets on hover.
Search like Brewing a spell.
The goal is to test and evaluate both approaches, understanding how users engage with familiar versus novel design solutions. This project highlights the importance of balancing usability with innovation to create a more engaging video search experience.
